On Sunday at the 3R Hippodrome, the spotlight will be on the opening round of the Breeders Trophy Series for three-year-old foals and fillies. There are three divisions, one for foals and two for fillies.

All of the youngsters competing today rack up points in the three preliminary rounds to be one of the eight finalists in the $ 65,000 final on Sunday, September 12th.

The show begins with the very first race on the program being the first stop in the Breeders Trophy Series for foals and geldings. There are nine starters in the slugfest which could be the best race on the map on Sunday.

Light Speed ​​leads the roster as Moon Beam’s gelding son is unbeaten in four starts for driver coach Guy Gagnon. He starts from post four and in his last start at Rideau Carleton was at his best, scoring a lifetime mark of 1: 52.3. It was brought up and belongs to Michel Nolette de Princeville.

The fillies embark on the Breeders Trophy Series from the fourth race where CL Sportsextreme faces Celia Bayama and Whitemountaincammy.

CL Sportsextreme moved from second position to driver Jonathan Lachance. The Sportswriter daughter has three starts this season and exploded last week in her OSS Grassroots division in Mohawk, winning in 1: 53.1. She is trained by Dany Fontaine for the Leblanc stable in Saint-Eustache.

Celia Bayama (photo below) is another excellent filly from Yves Filion stable. She leaves from station one with Yves in the sulky. The Bettors Delight filly won four times last year with over $ 58,000. So far in 2021, she has yet to win in five starts, but finished second by a neck to Mohawk in 1: 54.1.

Whitemountaincammy is doing well at 3R this season with three wins in his last four starts, all at 3R. She started from post six for driver Stéphane Brosseau and entered the race with a best ever triumph of 1: 57.4.

The second division of the Breeders Trophy series for fillies chaperones is the sixth race where the local favorite Platinum Alpha (post two) leads the peloton for the Alpha team and the trainer Sylvain Tremblay.

Coming from Control The Moment, Platinum Alpha is currently the most victorious horse at 3R this season with five triumphs. The regular driver Pascal Bérubé will be in the sulky. Platinum Alpha took a 1:57 3R record two starts back.

It won’t be a walk in the park for Platinum Alpha because starting at post four is Got Sexy Scars. This Sportswriter daughter may be winless in five starts for trainer Daniel Dulude and owner Bruno Lepage de Beauharnois, who bred the filly, but she showed impressive speed at Georgian Downs where on her last start, she missed the win by a nose in 1: 52.3.

Other contenders include D Gs Magicmoment from post five for driver Jonathan Lachance and Clear The Credit (post six) for driver Samuel Fillion.

And if the stake action isn’t enough, 3R welcomes a well-matched peloton in the eighth Preferred-Handicap Pace race. The best leaders Mickeymaksomespeed (position five), Somewhere Bettor (position two) and D Gs De Vito (position six) will face the hobbyhorse and quadruple champion of the Quebec race, Atomic Million AM, who changes from rail for the pilot Sylvain Lacaille. Last week Atomic Million AM won at 3R in a walk of 1:59.
