Jacob & Co. has been designing watches in conjunction with Universal Pictures for a few years now. The Opera Scarface Musical watch with a dial featuring illustrations from the Scarface poster and a 120-note music box playing the “Bolivia” theme is a good example. This aspect of watchmaking was introduced to the company’s Opera collection with the Opera Godfather, which has now received a new treatment.
In fact, the Jacob & Co. Opera Godfather is a one-of-a-kind timepiece. It is a high-end complication watch with a state-of-the-art movement. The watch includes a music box (playing the film’s musical theme) and a three-axis tourbillon mounted on a rotating platform. This one spins around the dial to tunes from the original Nino Rota track.
The new watch
Among Jacob & Co.’s exciting Godfather musical watches, the new edition in black DLC grade 5 titanium is by far the most alluring. There’s not much of a departure from the OG, but the striking color range is a head-turner on its own, but not at the cost of the rotating gimmick in the face!
Powered by the 658-component JCFM04 movement – manually wound by the violin-shaped crank – Opera Godfather is an absolutely peerless timepiece with an unparalleled ability to amaze and entertain wearer and viewer alike.
Limited to 88 pieces, the black DLC titanium edition of the Opera Godfather with its striking mechanisms (evoking a total of 120 notes from the film’s theme) represents a complicated and challenging feat in fine watchmaking.
While the miniature hand-engraved godfather sitting in the middle of the dial has one ear on the chime and a quick eye on the spectacular three-axis tourbillon.
