Madurai / Trichy: In Madurai District, no less than 88 public school students, who have completed the government’s NEET E-box coaching, have achieved NEET status with over 108 points. About fifty of them are likely to be eligible for admission to MBBS, thanks to the exclusive 7.5% quota for public school students.
In the district of Trichy, at least 62 students from public schools and 112 from government-subsidized schools achieved qualifying marks.
In Madurai District, around 500 government and assisted school students who completed the E-box course wrote NEET this year. Of the 288 public school students who took the national level test, 88 passed. Thirteen of them obtained more than 200 points.
The best score among the students of the district public schools is BR Priyanka of the Avvai Corporation Upper Secondary School for Girls. She scored 414 points. Harish Kumar of Elumalai Government Boys Higher Secondary School and S Ashika Rani of EVR Nagamayar Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School took second and third place with scores of 373 and 351 respectively. The top three scorers are newbies on the NEET exam.
“Over the past year and a half, we have put a lot of effort into training students. We have performed many mock tests and despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year the first grade was only around 300. We expect more students to be admitted to MBBS this year under the 7.5% quota, ”said S Vennila Devi, coordinator NEET E-box government coaching.
