The Regal Jewel can accommodate 2,566 people in 16 theaters. Traffic was stable but unspectacular early Friday afternoon, the second day of the theater after the long intermission linked to the pandemic. Management has suggested that “F9: The Fast Saga”, the latest in the “Fast and Furious” series, should prove attractive in the future.
Regal scheduled 18 screenings of the film on different screens on Friday. Other titles available include “Spirit Untamed”, “In the Heights”, “Cruella” and “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway”, among others.
Most video and arcade games were up and running on Friday, and the concession stand was well stocked with popcorn, candy, nachos, and drinks.
No signs were posted requiring or suggesting masks, and management returned comments on the safety measures to Regal headquarters, which had not returned any phone messages late Friday afternoon.
Lynn and Toni Wadle said they sampled the AMC Galaxy 16 while Regal was away, but found the experience unsatisfactory.
“We’re old and we don’t like to change our ways,” said Lynn Wadle. “Going to the movies means two and a half hours without thinking about bills, not thinking about car payments, not being disturbed by someone calling on the phone.”
They bought tickets to “F9: The Fast Saga” because they saw the rest of the series and wanted to keep following the story.
