Win tickets to see Oi Frog & Friends at Birmingham Hippodrome

Here’s your chance to win tickets to see Oi Frog & Friends! at Birmingham Hippodrome. Bestsellers by Kes Gray and Jim Field have been adapted into an action-packed spectacle featuring all of the Oi friends as puppets.

The story tells of a new day at the school in Sittingbottom where “cats sit on mats, hares sit on chairs, mules sit on stools, gophers sit on couches, and frogs sit on logs.” Frog looks for a place to sit, but Cat has other ideas and Dog does as he is told. Who knew there were so many rhyming rules and what will happen when Frog is in charge?

Presented at the Hippodrome by Kenny Wax Family Entertainment, the company behind the theatrical translations of The Worst Witch, Hetty Feather, What the Ladybird Heard, the production was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Family Show in 2020.

The stage adaptation, Oi Frog & Friends! mixes drama, puppetry, jokes, rhyme and song as it draws on the first four books to tell the story of a day at school in Sittingbottom, where chaos reigns when Frog decides he can’t -not be perching your buttocks on a log. It premiered on stage in the West End in December 2019

The books were developed for the show, giving each of the characters a story for the audience to enjoy.

“The dog is taking care of a few puppies,” Gray said, “There are puppies everywhere and they’re all behaving very badly. They won’t sit still because they’re too busy being puppies, so everyone everyone gets mad. They have to do something about it. Then Frog uses his cell phone, makes a call and sorts the problem out.”

Oh ! aficionados – Oificionados? – will already know the puppies are sitting on guppies but rules are meant to be broken and these yelping guests are too outspoken and excitable for such directions!
